PAISAJE DE SANTA CRUZ / SANTA CRUZ LANDSCAPE

Esta acuarela la hice el año que estuve viviendo en Santa Cruz, un pueblo costero de California. Estuve estudiando un año de master en Digital Arts and New Tecnologies (DANM) en la University of California. Ese año en Estados Unido me sirvió muchísimo para conocerme más a mi mismo y darme cuenta de cosas de las que quizá aquí en España no me habría percatado. Un ejemplo es esta acuarela. Yo casi nunca he dibujado con acuarela, es una técnica que requiera paciencia y dedicación y yo nunca me he considerado especialmente paciente. Pero ese año tuve la necesidad de pintar, y no podía hacerlo en bastidor, con óleo y acrílico, o al menos no si luego me quería traer los trabajos de vuelta a España, por lo que decidí que era el momento de perfeccionar mi técnica de acuarela. Hice varios dibujos y uno de ellos es este. Son las vías del tren, a su paso por Santa Cruz, y la estructura de hierro roja es el puente que cruza por encima de la desembocadura del San Lorenzo River. I made this watercolor the year I was living in Santa Cruz, a coastal town in California. I studied one year of a master's degree in Digital Arts and NewTechnologies (DANM) in the University of California. That year in the United States helped me to learn more about myself and notice things that maybe I wouldn't have noticed here in Spain. An example is this watercolor. I haven't almost  drawn in watercolor, a technique that requires patience and dedication and I have never considered myself particularly patient. But that year I needed to paint and draw, and couldn't paint on canvas with oil or acrylic, or at least not if I wanted to bring the work back to Spain, so I decided it was time to work on my watercolor technique. I made several drawings and one of them is this one. This are the train tracks, passing through Santa Cruz, and the red iron structure is the bridge that crosses over the mouth of the San Lorenzo River. I'll show more watercolors which I did in California.
